Artist Statement
My paintings are influenced by contemporary urban life. I find inspiration in the confusion and fleetingness of busy crowded streets. In the fast pace of the 21st century there is often little time to take in all the detail, thus only seeing fragments of the surrounding scene. A number of my other works focus on overlooked and unloved spaces found at the edge of towns and cities, where there is often an eerie feeling of insecurity and, at the same time, an odd sense of freedom.
I use a palette that I feel reflects the toxicity of modern-day urban environments and adds a surreal, dreamlike quality to seemingly mundane scenes.
