Artist Statement
What is this space, this Wasteland? Barren, uninhabited landscape devoid of human trace; touched only by the memory of what was. A translation of the emptiness that comes from ravaged places that are so desolate they lack any spiritual aesthetic.
For some time I have been looking for an alternative way of painting with a radical move from what attracts me most. This body of work is made with the removal of colour and direct observation. These are invented landscapes. Designed space. A visible definition of a place with no humanising qualities.
