Today’s gallery wall features recent works by Roger Matthews, who has been attending Life Drawing sessions since they began at deepspaceworks, and has exhibited several times in our group exhibitions as well as being a regular at many of our events.
Thank you, Roger for submitting a number of sketchbook drawings mostly made on solitary local walks during lockdown, plus the two powerful paintings of local buildings and scenes that may be familiar to some. The recent drawing ‘Tree at Deerhurst, May 2020’ resonated strongly with me as I believe I recognise the very tree from my own parish as well as reminding me of the drawings of my favourite illustrator, Arthur Rackham.
As for the final drawing ‘R’, what a great way to sign this portfolio of work!
